Herbert Matter was a pioneer of poster art and a master of photomontage. This intaglio poster advertising car trips in Switzerland is part of an extraordinary series which Matter designed for the Swiss tourism agency between 1934 and 1936. The design, dominated by a close-up of a paved street leading to a winding mountain pass with a snowy peak in the background, is radical for its time.
