Every serious poster collector wants Robert Hardmeyer’s 1905 “Waschanstalt Zürich” poster for his or her collection. This unique design with the cock wearing a coat revolutionised the world of advertising at the beginning of the last century. The anthropomorphic animal figure and the dominant lettering graced the laundry company’s headquarters and its vans for many decades. The “Waschanstalt” eventually had to make way for a modern building with luxury lofts, but it will always be remembered thanks to this legendary poster.
