From the sketchbook of "La Reine de Saba", which originally contained fifty drawings, 15 works are auctioned (Lot 77-89). Most of the drawings illustrate texts from the bible, but also portraits are among them (Lot 77 und 81) .
Motifs and figures from the Old Testament are partially fragmented drawn, partially continued to imagewise drawings. They are conceived in colored wax crayon, in black india ink, pencil or ballpoint pen on paper.

For the exhibition "Marc Chagall - Aquarell, Gouache, Zeichnung" a faksimile of the sketchbook of Marc Chagall was printed. In it are all drawings and the expertise of the Comité Marc Chagall to the sketchbook "La Reine de Saba" included.
