Annotation:

This collage of three monochrome squares painted with oil paint was created in connection with the commissioned work Schwarz, Rot, Gold [WVZ: 856] for the German Bundestag in Berlin. Richter used a selection of four shades of black, four shades of red and four shades of gold to create two collages of 64 different colour combinations. Above the monochrome squares is the "numerical code", here ‘224’, which refers to the colours used. Each copy of the edition has an individual colour scheme.
